Swimming

Ethan passed his first swimming class! So he moves from Pike to Eel, he was very proud of himself. I tried to take a few pictures of him swimming, but I think I need to read the manual on my camera because any kind of action shot turns out blurry. I know Jarred is reading this saying it's the picture taker (he thinks my hand shakes) and not the camera, but I am convinced I need to change the settings on the camera or something. Anyway, now that swimming is over I am going to put Ethan in a Mini Sports camp where they will learn to play tball, soccer, basketball & floor hockey. It's just on Monday nights. So then after that session is over he will do swimming lessons again.

Carson is doing much better, his cough is almost gone. He is such a happy baby! Now we just need to work on sleeping through the night again.

Sick days....

Last week was a very long week! Carson ended up getting sick with a really bad cough. I felt so sorry for the little guy. He would cough so hard that he would choke and then end up throwing up. I took him to the doctor on Tuesday and they said he just had a cold and there was nothing they could do. So he suffered through a few more days and I took him back to the doctor on Friday. They found an ear infection and heard a little crackling in his lungs, so he was put on on antibiotic. He was in a much better mood over the weekend and he isn't coughing as much. he has definitely picked up some bad habits while being sick, like wanting to be held all of the time and not sleeping in his crib as good. But that's okay, it's pretty hard not to cuddle with him when he isn't feeling good.

We thought Ethan had the flu, I had to pick him up from daycare one day after he had thrown up. But it must have been something he ate because he ended up being fine. He has been okay since then, and just has a slight cold. Hopefully he stays healthy this week because it is his last week of swimming lessons. He is going to be bummed when they are over, he loves going. He came up with the idea that he is going to be playing soccer once swimming lessons are over. He also wants to play t-ball really bad, but won't be old enough for the summer program in St. Clair. I should be able to get him involved in something like that at the YMCA.

I hope everyone is staying healthy, there is so much crap going around. My mom came and watched the boys on Thursday...and now she is sick! Hope you feel better mom! :)

Happy 3 month birthday Carson!!

I finally got a picture of Carson smiling! For some reason I just could never catch him, it's like he knew what I was trying to do when I would get the camera out. Can you believe he is 3 months old already? I know I always talk about how fast time goes by, but I still feel like I was just pregnant and complaining that he was never going to come out!

This week we have just been thankful that both boys are staying healthy! Daycare has been closed the last few days because Jen's little boy has been really sick, we hope the poor little guy gets better quick. Our friend Daya has been helping us by watching the kids, it is so nice that she has been able to help us out! Ethan loves going over to their house to play with Connor & Marie.



Carson is almost ready to sit in his Bumbo chair by himself! His head is still a little to bobbly, but it won't be long.



Doesn't Ethan look thrilled to have his picture taken? He is such a stinker, he moves on purpose when I am trying to take the picture because he knows it will blur the picture. Then he gets mad when I want to take another one.

Haircut

Daddy finally got his way, we shaved Ethan's head! :) He wasn't so sure about it at first, and kept asking when his hair was going to get longer. But everyone that has seen him has made comments about it and he likes hearing that. It took me awhile to get used to it, but I think it's pretty cute....it makes him look so much older!





The weekend went by so fast. Grandpa & Grandma Poppe came up and visited us Saturday afternoon. Ethan had fun playing with Grandpa and always loves it when Benji comes with! Grandma & I got to do some shopping, there were great deals at Old Navy! We had some friends over to watch football on Sunday and so there were lots of kids over at our house. They all had fun playing in the toy room and watching movies. The girls sat upstairs with the babies.

Just stuff

My goal is to update this blog at least once per week, but I had been meaning to take some new pictures of Carson...I can't catch him on camera with a big smile. He seems to be growing so much everyday!! He is starting to grab for stuff now and really watches you when you talk to him. He is still smiling and just happy. He has continued to sleep through the night a few times, but other nights he wakes up once. The Will's borrowed us their swing since Aubrey is to big for it, Carson really likes it. He has been doing really good at daycare too...thank goodness!

Ethan had his first swimming lesson on Tuesday. He did a great job! He listened to the teachers and wasn't scared at all. I didn't figure he would be, since he has been swimming a lot. I of course forgot my camera, so I didn't even get any pictures of his first swimming lessons. The swimming lessons got cancelled lastnight because of the awful cold, I was very happy about that.

His wife died the day after their baby was born, and he writes about his life as a single dad on his blog. I originally came across it through a blog about parenting that I read on the Star Tribune. Him and his wife used to be from Minneapolis.

Where does time go?

I can't believe that the holidays are over, and I am sitting here at work. I just don't know where the time went!

We had a really good Christmas. Going to the Waterpark of America was definitely a highlight, I would recomend it to anyone! Ethan had so much fun...as did the adults. :) Hopefully we can do something like that again soon, it's just kind of a nice little winter getaway. We spent 5 days down in Fairmont over Christmas, we didn't really do a lot...it was just nice and relaxing. Ethan & Carson both got a lot of nice gifts from everyone for Christmas, good thing Ethan has a big toy room.

Jarred and I had a fun night out on New Years with friends. We went to Tucker's Tavern for supper (and all you can drink!) and then drove around in a Lincoln Navigator limo for 2 hours! That was awesome. We showed the limo driver how good of singers we all are. Hopefully I will be getting some pics soon of that night so I can post them.

Carson is doing really good. He was 13 pounds and 23 inches long at his last appointment. Last night he actually slept through the night! It was great...but I kept waking up waiting for him to wake up. We'll see if it continues. His newest thing to try and do is suck his thumb, he's getting better at it...he can actually keep his thumb in his mouth. He is full of smiles and likes to lay on the floor and kick his feet.

Ethan is just busy being a 4 year old. He was home with me for almost 2 weeks while daycare was closed over the holidays. He was getting bored and definitely ready to play with friends! Next week he is going to start swimming lessons at the YMCA, I know he will love it and he will get to burn off some energy!

Going back to work has been hard, it was nice to spend time with the boys every day. Guess I just need to get back in the old routine. MAYBE some day I will be lucky enough to work part time. :)

I love the picture below of Benji laying with Carson. My mom, April and I were in the kitchen talking and I walked in to check on Carson. Benji snuck up to cuddle with Carson while we weren't looking, it was the cutest thing.
